Live Telecast of Interim Budget 2024
The School of Commerce organized a live telecast event on February 1, 2024, to dissect and discuss the Union Budget of 2024.
The activity was designed to engage the B.Com, BBA and MBA students, faculty, and other stakeholders in understanding the financial implications and policy changes proposed in the national budget. The live telecast provided students with a real-time view of the budget presentation by the Finance Minister, creating an immersive and informative experience. Students developed critical analysis skills by examining and evaluating the potential impacts of budgetary decisions on the economy, businesses, and individuals.
The live telecast successfully enhanced awareness among the participants regarding the key components of the Union Budget 2024, including economic projections, sectoral allocations, tax reforms, and policy initiatives.
The Finance Club of Faculty of Business Management and Commerce coordinated this activity.
Elocution Competition on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti
An Elocution Competition for the students of JSPM University was organized on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti on Tuesday, 20.2.2024 at 10 am in Chanakya Hall of the Faculty of Business Management and Commerce.
The topic for the said competition was ‘Management and Leadership Skills of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’. Students were allowed to speak for 5 minutes and deliver their thoughts in Marathi, Hindi, or English language.
The Objective of this competition was to:
- To help improve their creative skills of the students
- To enable them to articulate their thoughts
- To develop a habit of reading and presenting a topic to an audience
- To guide them to use voice and language
A total of 36 students were registered for the competition. The students searched for the information and gained knowledge related to the given topic. All the participants enthusiastically shared their thoughts and views about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his Management and Leadership Skills very well. This activity provided a platform for the students to enthusiastically participate and confidently express their views.

Embarking on a career path after completing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree can be both exciting and overwhelming. With a plethora of options available, it's crucial to make informed choices that align with your skills, interests, and aspirations.
Therefore a session on Career Opportunities after B.Com; BBa and MBA was delivered by CMA Harshada Prabhune on February 05, 2024.
The primary objective of the guest session was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the career opportunities that await them after completing their B.Com., BBA, or MBA. The session aimed to equip students with valuable insights into the job market, industry trends, and the skills required to excel in their chosen fields. By addressing common concerns and misconceptions, the session aimed to empower students to make informed decisions about their career paths.
The guest session left students feeling inspired and motivated to explore the vast array of career opportunities available after completing their B.Com., BBA, or MBA degrees. Awareness Program on Commodity Derivatives
Over the last couple of years, the metal prices have touched all-time highs, leaving the metal consuming industry vulnerable to price volatility and therefore price risk. Metal price volatility has obvious and major implications on business margins of any industry. Thus, managing this price risk competently is no longer a choice, but a compulsion for the sustenance of business enterprises.
The seminar on November 20, 2023 by Mr. Dhiren Charania, Manager - Product Management Team, Base Metals Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd.) aimed to delve into ‘Base Metals Contracts – Price Risk Management and Delivery Solutions’ and its relevance in today’s fast-changing world.
The session covered mainly these points.
- Price Discovery of Base Metals such as Aluminium/Copper/Lead/Nickel/ Zinc.
- Risk Management by hedging the price over MCX base metals contract.

Mr. Dhiren Charania spoke at length about the basic concepts of commodity derivatives. he also discussed the practical aspects of commodity derivative market. appealed the students to study and understand the potentialities of the commodity market since they are the future investors. The technical sessions were followed by a question and answer round where the students participated actively.
Guest Session: Financial Literacy for Youth by CA Anupkumar Mundada
A Guest session on Financial Literacy for Youth (Initiated by SEBI & BSE IPF, Mumbai)” by CA Anupkumar Mundada was organized at Faculty of Business Management and Commerce on September 26, 2023.
The objective of the session was to:
Equip students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in personal finance management, including budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management.
Foster an understanding of financial markets, instruments, and concepts relevant to business decision-making and entrepreneurship
Empower students to make informed financial decisions, mitigate risks, and plan for long-term financial stability and success in both personal and professional realms.
The session commenced with an overview of fundamental concepts such as budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management, tailored to the specific needs and aspirations of young professionals. Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, students gained practical knowledge applicable to both personal finance management and strategic decision-making in business.
Moreover, the session delved into advanced topics such as financial markets, risk management, and entrepreneurship, providing students with a holistic understanding of financial dynamics and opportunities. Participants left empowered with the knowledge and confidence to navigate financial challenges, make informed decisions, and pursue their personal and professional aspirations with financial resilience.
Introductory Session on Fundamentals of Organ Donation
On July 31, 2024, the Faculty of Business Management and Commerce (FBMC) hosted a session on "Basics of Organ Donation and Transplantation" at Chanakya Hall, beginning at 11:30 AM. Over 80 attendees, including students and faculty from various JSPM University schools, participated in the event.
The session featured Ms. Sangeeta Jadhav, Junior Coordinator from the Zonal Transplant Coordination Centre (ZTCC) in Pune, as the guest speaker. Ms. Jadhav provided an in-depth overview of organ donation and transplantation, focusing on live organ donation and detailing the donation process. She highlighted the critical role of organ donation in saving lives and its profound impact on the healthcare system.
Dr. Prabha Singh, Dean of FBMC, delivered the welcome address, underscoring the societal importance of organ donation. The interactive format of the session allowed participants to address their questions and clear misconceptions about organ donation, resulting in a valuable learning experience.
The event was organized by the Pune Management Association (PMA) and the Neha Foundation, with Mr. Rahul Joshi's support. Dr. Mohd Abdul Maroof, Associate Professor at FBMC, coordinated the session with the assistance of dedicated BBA students Tanvi, Vishaka, and Shubhangi.
