On April 13th, 2024, JSPM University in Pune hosted an exhilarating Industry Day, showcasing a lineup of esteemed speakers and thought leaders. Mr. Nilesh Aswar from Cognizant Pvt. Ltd. kicked off the event with an insightful exploration of the software development process, offering valuable industry perspectives. Following this, Mr. Sujal Kulkarni, representing Ubisoft India Pvt Ltd., delved into the exciting world of game development, providing an overview of various roles within the IT industry, particularly in gaming technology. The event reached its zenith with Mr. Pavan Wankhade, the Chief Information Officer at Unnati Development and Training Centre Pvt Ltd., unraveling the mysteries of open-source systems, emphasizing their pivotal role in fostering innovation and collaboration. Throughout the day, attendees were immersed in a collaborative environment, gaining diverse insights and perspectives from industry experts. The Industry Day at JSPM University promised to be a transformative experience for students, igniting their passion and preparing them to become future leaders in the ever-evolving landscape of technology.

IBM SME Guest Lecture on Cyber Security and Power BI

The IBM SME Guest Lecture on Cyber Security and Power BI, held at JSPM University, Pune, unfolded over two days, featuring insightful sessions led by Ms. Rema Joshi from IBM. Day one focused on Cyber Security fundamentals, engaging FY and SY students in discussions on Cloud Computing, Cyber Laws, and more. Day two delved into Power BI, covering installation, case studies, and advanced features. The event witnessed active participation, with student anchors and coordinators ensuring smooth proceedings. Ms. Joshi's expertise and interactive teaching style left a lasting impression. The program emphasized hands-on learning and industry-academia collaboration, enhancing students' understanding of emerging technologies. With a total attendance of 518 across both days, the event underscored the university's commitment to providing cutting-edge educational experiences. Collaboration with industry leaders like IBM continues to enrich the academic landscape, preparing students for the challenges of tomorrow's technology-driven world.

The IBM Student Orientation Program, held at JSPM University on January 19th, 2024, aimed to enlighten FY and SY B.Tech students about industry trends, skills, and IBM initiatives, fostering collaboration. The event featured distinguished speakers including Mr. Sanjiv Mehta, Mr. Viqaruddin Surki, Mr. Hari Ramasubramanian, Mr. Dhaval Shah, and Mr. Sanjay Daga. Program highlights included felicitations, a comprehensive overview, collaboration examples, and sessions by IBM experts covering program development, industry skills, and IBM initiatives. Gratitude was expressed by Mr. Saurabh Mittal towards the speakers and student volunteers. The outcomes included enhanced understanding of industry trends and IBM initiatives, and strengthened collaboration between JSPM University and IBM. The event concluded as a resounding success, providing students with valuable insights and networking opportunities in a collaborative atmosphere.

IBM TRAIN THE TEACHERS (T3) PROGRAM

The IBM Train the Teachers (T3) Program, held from December 26-29, 2023, at JSPM University Pune, aimed to enhance the teaching capabilities of 17 faculty members from the School of Computational Sciences. This four-day offline training, led by subject matter expert Mr. Nithin Nilkantha Rao, focused on the Foundations of Computer Science: Computational Thinking to Cybersecurity. The program's goals were to equip participants with skills and knowledge for teaching computer science using IBM resources and tools, improve their understanding of programming languages, and integrate hands-on practices in their teaching methods. Key activities included an introduction to computational thinking, exploration of cybersecurity fundamentals, practical sessions on using online tools and software applications, and an assessment to certify participants as IBM Certified Teachers. The program successfully enhanced participants' proficiency in computer science education, improved their use of IBM tools, and developed effective teaching strategies. The certification process concluded with the distribution of certificates to eligible participants, ensuring they are well-prepared to deliver high-quality education in computer science.

IBM ICE Code Crunch 2024/Hackathon Competition

The IBM ICE Code Crunch 2024/Hackathon, supported by GLA University, Mathura, aimed to assess student competencies and enhance their skills for better placement opportunities. Held on February 22 and March 15-16, 2024, the event targeted 2nd, 3rd, and final year students from various universities. Organized by IBM and partners, it featured group submissions evaluated in preliminary and final rounds. Key participants included IBM officials and university representatives.

The event saw 89 registered teams, with 39 submitting work for evaluation and 30 advancing to the final round. Evaluation criteria focused on idea novelty, feasibility, scalability, and commercial potential. The final event involved solving new problem statements over 24 hours, with evaluations by SMEs and IBM mentors.

Winning teams received cash prizes and certificates. GLA University's Team TechVimaan won the first prize of Rs. 100,000, Yenepoya's Team AgTech won Rs. 70,000 as runners-up, and KARE's Team Vashistha secured Rs. 50,000 as second runners-up. The hackathon successfully highlighted students' skills and facilitated networking and learning opportunities.

IBM ICE DAY APRIL-2024

The IBM ICE Day April 2024 at JSPM University Pune showcased the technical skills and innovation of FY and SY B.Tech students through a Technical Poster Presentation Competition. Held on April 15-16, the event featured poster exhibitions evaluated by IBM delegates. The program aimed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students in various domains, including AI, ML, Data Science, Cybersecurity, IoT, Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Blockchain. 

The inauguration included motivational talks by university officials and IBM representatives, emphasizing the importance of industry-academia collaboration. Over 70 groups participated, presenting posters judged on creativity, innovation, and effective communication. The top posters received gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with certificates of appreciation. 

The event also provided valuable networking opportunities with IBM professionals and industry experts, enhancing students' understanding of real-world applications and industry standards. Two standout groups were offered internships by Datagami Company, furthering their professional growth.

Overall, IBM ICE Day April 2024 was a successful platform for students to demonstrate their technical prowess, gain industry exposure, and engage in meaningful interactions with professionals, reinforcing the importance of innovation and excellence in education and technology.
