JSPM University Pune organized an online webinar titled “Emerging Global Trends in IoT” on 27 March 2025 at 1:15 PM for UG/PG students and faculty. Expert Dr. Vineet Kumar, Senior Engineer at Ittiam Systems, explained IoT fundamentals, significance, latest trends in sensors, cloud computing, and AI integration, and key applications in smart homes, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and transport. He also discussed challenges such as security, privacy, and scalability, and future opportunities and careers. The interactive session encouraged participation and enhanced awareness, successfully inspiring attendees to explore IoT research and innovation across academic communities globally with strong positive feedback from participants. 

JSPM University Pune organized a field visit to the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), TIFR Khodad, on 16 May 2025 through its School of Electrical and Communication Sciences in collaboration with the IEEE Student Branch. A total of 51 participants (31 students and 20 staff) explored radio telescope operations, interferometry, antenna systems, and digital signal processing applications in astronomy. The visit included expert briefings, facility tours, and interactive discussions with scientists on research and career opportunities. The experience connected theoretical communication engineering concepts with real-world scientific infrastructure, enriching participants’ technical understanding and motivating further engagement in advanced research fields.

JSPM University Pune organized an IEEE MTT-S Online Distinguished Microwave Lecture on “100–300 GHz Wireless Communications” on 26 March 2025, featuring Prof. Mark Rodwell (University of California, Santa Barbara). The lecture highlighted emerging high-frequency communication technologies enabling terabit-per-second transmission through massive spatial multiplexing. Applications such as high-resolution radar imaging for aviation and adverse-weather driving were discussed, alongside challenges in mm-wave IC design, front-end modules, and digital beamforming complexity. Prof. Rodwell also presented research on 140 GHz wireless hubs and 210–280 GHz MIMO backhaul links. The interactive session enriched students’ understanding of advanced microwave systems and future research opportunities for participants and faculty members. 

JSPM University Pune organized a seminar on “Significance of Telecommunications in Modern Infrastructure and Mobility Solutions” on 19 May 2025 with 61 participants. Conducted by the School of Electrical and Communication Sciences, the session featured Dr. Prakash Vyavhare (online) and Mr. Shekhar Manjhi from Maha Metro Pune (offline). The experts discussed emerging telecom technologies including 5G connectivity, IoT applications, metro signalling systems, OFC networks, intranet infrastructure, and virtualization in smart mobility. The seminar enhanced awareness of telecommunications’ role in urban infrastructure, encouraged interdisciplinary learning, and inspired students and faculty to explore research and innovation opportunities in advanced communication technologies.
